At Green Light Tree Services, we understand that stump grinding is more than just removing a stump; it’s about restoring your landscape’s beauty and functionality. Our process begins with a detailed assessment, where our experts carefully examine the size, location, and type of stump, along with the surrounding area. This step ensures we choose the most effective approach for your specific situation, whether it’s a single stump in a backyard or multiple stumps in a larger area.
Using advanced, industry-leading equipment, our skilled technicians then proceed to grind the stump down below ground level. This method not only efficiently removes the stump but also minimizes the impact on the surrounding soil and vegetation. By grinding the stump into small chips, it can be easily removed or used as mulch for your garden, contributing to the health and beauty of your landscape.
The final step in our process involves a thorough cleanup of the area. We understand that the job isn’t finished until your property is left clean and ready for the next phase, whether it be replanting grass or installing new landscaping elements. Serving residents and businesses in Holbrook, NY, and Suffolk County, Green Light Tree Services is committed to delivering a seamless and satisfactory stump grinding experience from start to finish.

Tree stumps can be dangerous, posing tripping risks and obstructing pathways or lawn maintenance. Stumps can be eyesores, detracting from your property’s overall appearance and curb appeal. By removing them, you open up space, allowing for new plant growth or landscape features. Furthermore, stump removal promotes a healthier lawn by eliminating competition for vital nutrients and water, ensuring that your garden or lawn thrives.

Holbrook is believed to have derived its name from a stream which was called, in various narratives, either “Old Brook” or “Hollow Brook.”
The area was part of the 51,000 acre Islip Grange estate, acquired in 1697 by William Nicoll (son of Matthias Nicoll, who was the sixth mayor of New York City). It was largely a rural area until Alexander McCotter acquired 5,000 acres in the area in 1848 (after the Long Island Rail Road reached it in 1844) and platted the community. The oldest still standing building from this period is St. John’s Lutheran Church, which was built in 1863. In 1875, the Nevins and Griswold cigar factory operated at the original LIRR station.
In 1931, the population was 321. Population increased from 2,500 in 1965 to 15,000 in 1975, after the Long Island Expressway reached the community in 1969. It also was the center of growth as Long Island MacArthur Airport developed along the community’s western border.
